If you’re starting to plan, here are ten things we think you should consider.
01. PLAN A PROPER WELCOME FOR THE NIGHT BEFORE
With the Park exclusively yours for the weekend, the night before doesn’t have to be just logistics and unpacking. A relaxed welcome meal for those staying on site and key friends and family is the perfect way to start the celebrations.

02. THINK THROUGH WHERE EVERYONE WILL STAY
Woodhall Park sleeps 20 across four properties, which is ideal for close family and the wedding party. Beyond that, a styled bell tent village is a lovely option for guests who want to stay in the Park without needing a full house, or we are happy to point you towards nearby hotels.
03. CHOOSE A CEREMONY SETTING THAT SUITS YOUR STYLE
The Walled Gardens, Garden House Lawn, The Stables Lawn and Woodlands offer different backdrops, from formal to more relaxed. None of them are “better”; it depends on the style of your ceremony and how you want your day to flow. It is worth noting that we don’t hold a civil ceremony license, but celebrant-led ceremonies and religious blessings both work beautifully here.
04. LET THE GARDENS DO SOME OF THE DECORATING
Between the borders, meadows, and orchard, the gardens are doing a lot of visual work before a single flower arrangement is placed. Our team can also share a list of which flowers set to be in bloom at the time of your wedding to help you plan accordingly.
05. CHOOSE YOUR CATERER
You’re free to bring your own caterer or work from our list of trusted names who already know the site well. Either way, it is worth deciding early, since a good caterer will often help shape other decisions too, from timings to how the food sits within the day.
06. MATCH YOUR MARQUEE TO YOUR NUMBERS
The Walled Gardens and The Stables comfortably hold weddings of up to 250, with the Parkland setting able to stretch to 400. We work with approved marquee suppliers who know the grounds and can help you find the right structure and layout for your guest list and suppliers.
07. GIVE GUESTS A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA
A wedding weekend has room for the little extras you can’t fit into a single wedding day. Ranger-led walks, archery, axe throwing, yoga, spa treatments or simply bikes to explore the parkland, these extras can be available for those staying on site or incorporated into your day before or after.
08. PLAN YOUR TIMELINE BACKWARDS
Music finishes by 12:30am with guests off-site by 1am. We always suggest building your timeline backwards to ensure you have enough time carved out for the elements that really matter to you. We would also suggest building in contingency time throughout, it might be that something is delayed, or that your photographers have the perfect light for a few extra shots.
09. ENJOY THE DAY AFTER
One of the joys of a wedding weekend is the morning after. There’s no rush to check out or scramble to say goodbye. A relaxed brunch or lunchtime BBQ gives everyone a last chance to catch up before heading home, reminisce about the wedding day and slowly ease back into day-to-day life.
10. START THE CONVERSATION EARLY
We hold a select number of weddings each year to protect the Park and it’s gardens, and the earlier you start planning, the more choice you’ll have, not just of dates, but also your suppliers. Our team offers venue coordination support throughout, from supplier recommendations to full on-the-day logistics, so you’re never planning entirely alone.
